Alena
Growing up in Kharkiv, Ukraine, Alena began studying piano at the age of six. As a child, her talent led her to participating in many regional competitions and music festivals. She took her talent to the next level by attending a specialized musical school during her teenage years. From 2008-2013, Alena earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music performance from the Kharkiv National University of Arts. Then, after receiving a full scholarship, she spent the next three years earning her dual master’s degree from the International Anton Rubinstein Academy in Dusseldorf, Germany and in La Spezia, Italy. Alena has also accumulated a lot of experience teaching piano to students of all ages and skill levels since 2008. She has studied and performed with numerous famous musicians in Ukraine, Germany, and Italy. After graduating from Anton Rubinstein, the academy offered her a job to stay as a piano teacher in their pre-college program. Alena’s main teaching philosophy focuses on studying classical music, but she also enjoys experimenting with piano interpretations of modern pop music.
Scott
Originally from New York, Scott lived in Washington D.C. for 3 years before he moved to Boulder, Colorado with his wife and son in 2019. Scott knew he was meant to be a musician from an early age. “When I was a kid, I always had music in my head. I got a guitar from a friend in high school and played it nonstop. Somewhere along the way, it just became obvious to me that I would keep at it my whole life.” Playing and teaching guitar is a passion for Scott, and he is fortunate to be able to share his rich musical experiences with his students.
Through the years, Scott has collaborated with singer/songwriters and recorded several albums with various artists. He formed instrumental rock bands (HIGH NORTH and VIU) and toured along the US East coast. He is also passionate about collecting and playing vintage pedals and guitars, and can guide you to find the instrument and tone that is right for you.
Scott loves inspiring his students and seeing them grow as musicians. He customizes his lessons based on the goals of each student. Even if you never picked up a guitar before, Scott’s patient approach will have you playing songs and having fun from the first lesson. Do you want to learn the techniques of songwriting? Form your first band? Understand chords, scales, and theory? Improve upon the skills you already know and elevate your playing to the next level? Scott can guide you to reach your musical goals.
